Body Shop – Metallic Eye Liquid Metal – Review

The Body Shop - Metal Eye Liquid - Swatches - “Gold Carat 117”, “Holographic Platinum 700”, “Rust Bronze 140”.

Christmas might be well and truly over, but I am not ready to give up my super sparkly eye looks just yet. My personal favourite is a metallic cut crease, but they can take ages to get right. Finding the right concealer that’s both pigmented enough while at the same time easy enough to apply without spoiling the eyeshadow you’ve already applied.

Some people have that skill mastered, but not me (I’m learning). Eye foils are a great but can be too thin and are a nightmare to layer up, but – I think I’ve found the perfect product!

The Body Shop Metallic Eye Liquid – the names a bit wrong as it’s not really a liquid, nor a powder – much more of a hybrid. Think Iconic London Setting Spray or the Revolution dupe. Half liquid, half powder that you shake (it takes a minute or two). Below is a really bad picture of me holding one up to the light. It looks a bit murky as not all the powder settles to the bottom.

Swatching them wasn’t the easiest thing ever, as they decided to leak through my stencil (they do take a good minute to dry), but for a single layer of each the colour payoff is pretty vivid, although even on my hand the formula felt a bit drying. I should also point out that you can rub these on the eyelids to give a more sheer, subtle effect.

I bought all three colours from The Body Shop Outlet and got 40% off the £8.00 each, so after a quick working out (I used a calculator lol), I think I paid £4.80 each. They are also on sale on their website for £5.60. Being 100% honest, I wouldn’t have paid £8 each for these – they are pretty small – but I had a £5 voucher on my loyalty card and so for under £10 for the set it was definitely worth a punt.

Onto the testing –

I can’t claim that I’m any kind of makeup artist and this looks is pretty basic, but I think it gives a fair representation of what anyone can achieve with these products. Gold Carat is a truly stunning shade to use. Highly pigmented, it applies easily with just one coat. I would suggest not using the doe foot in the tube as this holds far too much product and you don’t get enough control. I applied a small amount to the back of my hand and used a BH Cosmetics flat shader brush. Much more control and really easy (although you have to clean the brush before using again).

Essentially, these are a great fun addition to anyone’s makeup collection. £8 is probably too much to pay, but if you have an outlet near you, it’s well worth grabbing these little beauties before they go.

4/5
