Mad Beauty: Mickey Mouse Advent Calendar – Review

12 Day Calendars are a bit of a weird one for me. They can be great, but I never know what time to start opening them. Open door one on the first and you’re done by the twelfth, open it on the thirteenth and it can be hard to keep track of the days (and you don’t get that excitement of starting on the 1st of December).

As I already had the Sleek Advent Calendar to open on the 1st, I decided to start this calendar on the 13th

Starting with the price, this Calendar initially retailed for £15 but by mid-November it had already been discounted to £7.50 (which is when both myself and my sister bought one each). They did this last years with the near identical Beauty and the Beast one. On a side note, if your not fussy about having one for the start of December, both this and the Snow White Calendar went down to around £3.50 on about the 3rd.

On to the contents; It’s a a real mixed bag. The stand out products would definitely be the two lip balms in Vanilla and Coconut. Both are full sized and as good quality as any you would pay a few pounds for in stores (although they do contain Beeswax).

The biggest disappointment would have to be the bright pink bath lotus (which I seem to have lost between Christmas and New Year. I think my Sister might have them as decorations on her pink Christmas tree?). If you like them, cool, but personally I’ve never liked them, find them a waste of plastic, and are super scratchy on the skin. Plus, being on the last day it was a real let down. Something like the hand cream or one of the little bottles of lotion or body wash would have been nicer.

Nail files are pretty standard for a calendar like this. Good enough to stick in your handbag for on the go, but not something you would use on a day to day basis – although the Mickey Mouse pictures are pretty darn cute!

The bath bombs are nice, but in no way are they comparable to something you would buy on its own (like Lush), they just smell pretty and are a bit of fun for bath time. Bath salts are far more substantial and have a good strong scent, you could potentially get two baths from each packet.

Overall I would definitely buy a Mad Beauty Disney Advent Calendar next year at the price of £7.50 (about 63p each item) but probably pass at £15 (£1.50 per item) as I think there are better around for not much more. The December sale price of £3.50 (about 29p an item) is fantastic value and are worth the fantastic Disney art work alone.
