Lottie London – 12 Days of Slay Advent Calendar – Review

Lottie London - 12 Days of Slay Advent Calendar

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve never heard about this Advent Calendar, never mind this brand (I’ll admit, I only heard about them early last year). It wasn’t really advertised anywhere or even on the Google searches I did before buying my Sleek Calendar back in November. I actually just stumbled across it while buying an outfit one week before Christmas on Pretty Little Thing. On sale for £10, I thought it was worth a go.

Receiving it only a few days before Christmas, I opened the whole thing in one go and I’ve got to be honest, I’m really impressed. This isn’t a 12 day calendar with a few days of great products and some duds to bulk it out, this is all the products you see front and centre in larger Superdrug stores.

First I want to talk about these six 4ml tubes. There are three Slay All Day liquid lipsticks, one of which is metalic. While they look to be pretty small in size, they are actually only 2ml smaller than their full sized counterparts in store (warning – the sizing on this calendar is weird!). All are very good quality, although the dark non-metalic one swatches far browner than its packaging.

The #holo lip gloss is just a really pretty pink shimmering lipgloss, although I can’t imagine buying another full sized one in store. Strangely a full sized one for £5.95 only contains 3ml to this ones 4ml (I told you the sizing was strange).

I would buy the Lip Foil again, (even though I would be getting less) as it’s just such a beautiful shade and formula. It’s a duochrome pinkish/purple/blue shade that dries down to a comfortable matte finish. It can also be put on top of any lipstick to add a foil effect.

Lastly from the tubes is the Eye Foil in the shade “Denied”. Much more of a glitter than an eye foil. I did actually buy this exact shade last summer when they were first released and they go great as a topper to a cut crease for extra sparkle. They’re best applied using your finger.

Lottie London - 12 Days of Slay Advent Calendar - Highlighters

Next is my favourite thing in the makeup world (and something I have way too many of) HIGHLIGHTERS!!!

They are all beautiful, but none more so than the lightest whiteish/cream shade. With flecks of pink and blue running though it, it really is stunning. The other two are equally as beautiful, one in a champagne shade, the other more golden.

Each shade comes from one of their Shimmer Squad Highlighter Quads, and is just a tiny bit under full size.

Next, comes two cute little eyeshadow pans which they have named swatches. Both are very neutral, one matte, one Shimmer. These two come from larger palettes and are a great way to test out the brand. On first impressions, they are pigmented if a bit chalky.

The final product in day 12 (as shown in top pic) was a full sized Glitter Switch Transforming Lipstick in the shade Wanted. This was initially what drew me to this calendar, one of these alone being £6.95 to buy in Superdrug.

Having one of these before, I mainly love them for being something a bit different (and it’s pretty fun watching the glitter appear). The formula is pretty drying and I do sometimes put a small amount of lip balm underneath.

Unfortunately, this was the only none Vegan product (containing Carmine). Annoying really as it’s so hard to find an all Vegan calendar and this was so close to perfect. Hopefully this is something they think about in the future.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a good value item that gives them a taste of what the brand Lottie London is all about. I’ve added up the value of the items by the amount in the products and it’s worth over £40, which makes me feel like I got a real bargain.

As a side note, I also love their setting powder (trust me it’s amazing).

Sophie x
