Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal – Review

£7 - Revolution - Boots

I’m slightly ashamed to admit it – especially considering my love for all things Makeup Revolution – but I have never tried anything by Makeup Obsession ?. This was mostly down to not really shopping in Boots, and if I’m honest, most of their products seem the same as Revolution – I mean they are the same company.

This all changed when I saw an Instagram post;

Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal.

Obsession Mega Conceal is a long wear, buildable concealer boosted with caffeine. Being a fan of Revolutions amazing  Hyaluronic Acid and Caffeine Solution for undereyes, I knew I has to give this a go.

At £7, yeah I was sceptical. The bottle at first glance doesn’t really look that much different in size to a Conceal and Define Concealer so I was actually pretty surprised to find out that it has practically three times the size. This being 14ml and Conceal and Define being 4g (although the supersize version is around 14ml for £7 as well).

Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal Comparison with Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define.

The shade range is pretty decent with 18 to choose from – although I should probably point out that they don’t correspond with other Revolution shades. I went for shade 02 (something that would be way too dark for me in CaD) but this is actually the lightest shade with 01 being a white for mixing.

Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal - Open/Inside.
Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal - Wand/Doefoot.

On first opening the product I was slightly concerned with the amount of difficulty I had getting the doefoot out. It’s absolutely massive! It turns out to be a really good feature to the concealer but it’s something to remember before first opening so you don’t get it everywhere (like I did!).

The doefoot itself if plushy and comfortable on the skin while holding just the right amount of product. It is however Mega, like the name suggests, at least double the size of the average concealer wand. Great for general application but not if you’re wanting to be precise.

Makeup Obsession Mega Conceal - Swatch - 02.

Coverage is more medium than full and it can start to look a bit streaky when applying too many layers.

For spot concealing I honestly couldn’t recommend this. The coverage isn’t enough and there are better products for the job.

The reason I want to rave about this concealer is for undereyes! Most concealers (Conceal and Define included) look great when first applied, but tend to settle into any fine lines on my eyes after a few hours. With this it just doesn’t happen. Hours after application it still looks like new. Having had good results with the caffeine undereyes serum I can only guess that it’s this same magic ingredient working here.

It’s both vegan and cruelty free and 100% worth a purchase if you’re looking for a good under eye concealer – especially if like me most of them crease on you!
