Primark PS. Summer Storm Liquid Eyeshadows – Review

Primark released their new Summer Storm collection back in the last week of December (Summer in Winter 🤷‍♀️), and I have to be honest, looking at the Instagram posts, I wasn’t that impressed. In store I got intrigued by the two liquid eyeshadows. They kind of looked like a dupe for Huda Beauty Matte & Metal Melted Shadows.

At £3 each these aren’t pricey and I picked up the two shades available, Dusk (Pink), Dawn (Brown). They are dual ended, both coming with a Matte and Metallic shade. At £19 cheaper than Huda Beauty, I was pretty happy.

Cruelty Free Credentials:

Primark cosmetics are all Leaping Bunny accredited and all have it displayed on their packaging. Not many of their products are labelled Vegan but I have listed the full ingredients down below. Checking them on Double Check Vegan It’s coming back as maybe Vegan, suspect ingredients have also been used in their Vegan products, so I just can’t be sure.

Testing:

Primark Ps… Summer Storm Liquid Eyeshadow - Dawn

Starting with the Matte shadow in the shade “Dawn”, I used a brush to buff it into the crease. I tried with just the doe foot applicator but it holds too much product for that. I then created a messy cut crease with the shimmer shade. I also had to blend this out with a brush, as it would have taken way to long to dry.

The whole process took less than 5 minutes, and didn’t look too bad, especially on a day when being quick is a priority. I used quite a lot but would look much more subtle with less product on the eye.

On another day, I tested the shade “Dusk”, doing exactly the same thing as before. The Matte pink shade is so pretty in this product and I was slightly tempted to wear this by itself. The shimmer shade in this set is not as foil like as in “Dawn”, much more of a glitter.

It does add a great shimmer to the eye, but is a lot more patchy compared to “Dawn”.

Primark Ps… Summer Storm Liquid Eyeshadow Testing - Dusk

After over 7 hours wear, and walking through a wind and rain storm, it wasn’t looking so great. I blame most of this on the weather – I mean my mascara is all over the place. It looks a lot worse on this picture than it did in real life. I could have easily worn it longer if it hadn’t rained.

Swatches:

Swatching, you can see the full pigment of the matte colours. For me, they are just too bright not to blend out, but I am impressed with the pigmentation. The shimmers are both just as impressive swatched as they are on the eyes.

Verdict:

For me, Primark beauty rarely ever fails. It’s good quality, it’s affordable, and likes to dupe some very expensive brands. These eyeshadows are no exception. For a quick, sometimes on the go eye look, I really recommend these. 8/10
