Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation – Review – Plus 7 Hour Wear Test!!!

£4.99 - Superdrug

Most of the time buying a new foundation for me, is all about trying something new that’s just been launched in stores – usually after seeing loads of people raving about it on social media, but I am a makeup addict and I can’t resist a bargain… so I caved in and bought a new foundation (not that I really needed anymore!).

Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation.

I’ll be honest, having heard plenty of mixed reviews on the B. Foundation, it wasn’t really something I was eager to try. Despite being a cruelty free and I think almost entirely Vegan brand I’d never even swatched any products in store.

The full price of this foundation is £4.99, which to be fare is very reasonable for a 30ml bottle. I purchased this during a recent sale for £3.32 and I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t expecting too much.

Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation - Packaging.

Before I even talk about the actual product, I first need to address the packaging. I hate it!

What should just be a standard tube that you squeeze a small amount out of as needed, has this really pointless pump attached. Not only is the pump kind of unnecessary, but it also doesn’t work. After spending a few minutes pumping with nothing happening, it finally squirts out everywhere. I tried just twisting off the pump but unfortunately this appears impossible.

I did eventually get enough out, but it does feel like a needless amount of messing around.

Onto the testing:

Foundation Testing Rules:

Before we get into the reviewing, just a few rules on how EVERY foundation review I do is going to happen.

  1. I will apply the products with a brush ( Revolution Pro Stippling Brush) on one side of my face, and a beauty blender on the other.

  2. Foundation will be set with the Revolution Bake and Finish Powder.

  3. I will be wearing each foundation for 7 – 8 hours taking pics around every 4 hours.

  4. I have oily skin, with occasional dry patches around my nose. What works for me might not work for you.

  5. All pics are taken with the same camera but obviously lighting will change due to time of the day.

Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation - Testing - First Applied.

Getting over the awful packaging – this is were I started to feel a little better about the product. Using the shade N1 (N I assume stands for neutral. They also do shades in C=cool and W=warm) I applied with both a brush and sponge, and there really wasn’t any difference in texture or coverage – both I would call pretty decent.

This is not a full coverage foundation but it doesn’t claim to be. It does however give a very natural finish that is matte but not cakey or drying and does cover up redness and scarring. As with any foundation, a small amount of concealer is needed.

I think what I was most impressed with was how light weight it felt. It dried down to a nice finish after a few minutes but still gave me time to work with and blend. You can still see my pores from close up but I wasn’t wearing any primer which would have helped.

Four Hours Later:

Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation - 4 Hours Wear.

After four hours I was shocked at how good it looked. No dry patches, no smears from wearing glasses and no shiny patches. The colour hadn’t oxidised and still felt really comfortable on the skin.

Seven Hours Wear:

Superdrug B. Flawless Matte Foundation - Testing - 7 Hours Wear.

Another 3 hours and my skin had changed quite a bit. The foundation had started to settle into my pores and around my nose. It also became shiny around my nose and cheeks, but actually not as bad as the picture looks. I think if I had powdered this down a few hours earlier it wouldn’t have been a problem.

My biggest bugbear would definitely be the wear around were my glasses sit, this is however no worse than any other foundation I’ve tried.

Overall I’m really impressed. Value for money ✅, good quality ✅, comfortable to wear ✅, staying power ❌. I would probably say that you could go five, maybe six hours without touching up depending on how oily your skin is. I would however, purchase this again, purely for the way it looked on my skin and the price. My biggest problem is that stupid pump. Get rid of it Superdrug, and this foundation would be almost perfect!
