The Ordinary. – Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - Review
Just over a month ago on Instagram I said that I was about to add The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA to my skincare routine and that I would post an update after a proper trial period… and here I am.
The Ordinary. It’s a reasonably priced, cruelty free, skincare and makeup brand that’s been available in the UK for a few years now. They claim to be “Clinical Formulations with Integrity” and all their products are “free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone” – which to me, all sounds pretty good!
I had been looking into adding a new moisturiser to my current routine for a while, and during an online order stumbled across this one. I had heard great things about the brand before, but had never picked anything up from them.
This moisturiser has:
A ph of 6.50-7.00.
Alcohol Free
Oil Free
Silicone Free
Nut Free
Vegan
Gluten Free
All these things are great, but honestly, I just wanted a moisturiser that would hydrate dry patches without breaking me out.
Testing:
On initial testing, my first thought was “She Thick”. You also don’t need a lot of product at a time. Half a pea sized amount is enough for one application. It moisturises well without leaving too much stickiness or residue, and you can add a facial oil on top without it pilling or balling up.
It’s worth pointing out that this moisturiser is completely fragrance free – even for my really sensitive nose. I don’t mind subtle fragrance in a product, but I know it can be really off putting for some.
In the first week using the moisturiser, I was pleased to find that it did not break me out! There was no dramatic change to my skin, but it did feel really nice after applying.
After One Months Use
After a month of using this product every other day (this seemed like the perfect amount for my oily skin), I am impressed. My skin feels more supple, the dry patches from Salicylic Acid use are better – and I even think my breakouts have been less extreme.
This exactly what my skin needed and did the job exceptional well for a price that seems like extraordinary value. After having now used it for nearly two months, I still have over half the bottle left, as you can see down below.
The Verdict:
I guess the easiest way of giving a verdict on a skincare product, is to ask “would I buy it again?”. I can say without a doubt, I will be keeping this as a regular fixture in my routine… and YES, I will be buying it again – in fact I already have!
The only negative I have is it’s plastic bottle. I know Deciem (the makers) have a recycling scheme in store – unfortunately I don’t have a store nearby.
I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone, especially if you have really dry skin, but at £4.90 it’s definitely worth a try!
