Top 5 – Cruelty Free And Vegan Drugstore Highlighters
Finding a great Cruelty Free and Vegan Highlighter can be hard – especially on a budget. I have tried A LOT and in this post I am sharing with you my Top 5.
I personally have pale skin (I’m a Revolution F1 for reference). All the highlighters I’ve chosen do have multiple shades for different skin tones, although I haven’t tried all of them out!
5. Lottie London Shimmer Squad – Holographic Haul – £9.95
Lottie London may no longer be available in Superdrug, but they do make a fantastic highlighter palette. I actually picked this up in TK Maxx on sale for £5.99 – but it is still on their website at full price. This palette is definitely on the icy side of the colour spectrum (there is a deeper toned palette available here).
All colours are highly pigmented, and only a small amount is needed. My personal favourite is the shade “the gossip”, a green hued highlighter that really pops. I was already familiar with “the bff”, having got a sample size in their Advent Calendar.
4. Sainsbury’s Boutique Illuminating Drops – Pink – £4.00
You’re probably thinking I’ve lost my mind – Sainsbury’s Sophie – Really? I kind of felt the same way at first – but this stuff is GOOD!
If you struggle with liquid highlighter removing your foundation (hi, Revolution), then this is for you. Tapping a small amount on with your fingers or a sponge, it works perfectly. I also like adding a few drops to my foundation for a glowing skin look.
There are only two shades available (the other is Champagne), and the whole of Sainsbury’s Boutique range could do with a lot more diversity.
The packaging is a little bit clunky and the dropper doesn’t work too well, but for £4, it’s still pretty amazing.
3. I Heart Revolution Diamond Princess Cut – £5.00
This is a truly blinding highlighter – pure ice white with a purple flash in the middle. The purple has faded from my product, but the performance is still just as good.
The formula is slightly chalky and rough, and I honestly can’t say the packaging style is my favourite – but overall, it is something I find myself reaching for often.
This formula is also available in two different shades, Girls Best Friend and Champagne and Diamonds.
2. MUA Prism Loose Powder Highlighter – Oceanic Wonder – £5.00
If the last highlighter was blinding then this one is on another planet! A super finely milled powder, it goes on like silk feeling completely weightless. Being so weightless, it can be pretty easy to apply too much. On my pale skin it looks like nothing on the skin until the light hits. Probably best to apply this one in the light if you don’t want to look like a robot.
1. Barry M. Baked Tri-Blend Highlighter – Silver Solstice – £6.49
Back at the start of February I did a post on fixing a broken highlighter – that just so happened to be about this very highlighter. Having loved this product, I was absolutely distraught when it smashed, and while repairing it did work – I missed the ability to dip into the three different colours. So I may have bought another one. It is also available in a deeper shade called “Bronzed Deco”.
This baked highlighter is so soft, buttery and insanely pigmented. It’s blinding and unlike any other I’ve had from the drugstore. Closest in texture to a Fenty Beauty Highlighter (I’ve swatched them in store), it is probably the best highlighter you can find easily in the drugstore today.
Swatches:
Bad English weather means these swatches are pretty dark, but definitely a good representation of the colours.
So there it is, my top five Cruelty Free and Vegan Highlighters. Let me know if have any other suggestions for me as I would love to try them out!
Until the next one;
Sophie x
