W7 Socialite Palette – Review

£9.50 - W7

I’m always on the hunt for a bargain – my pics on Instagram are proof of that! So I introduce you to my latest beauty steal, the W7 Socialite Palette.

W7 - Socialite Palette

Funny story about this palette, I was actually looking for this at full price in the shops I know usually sell W7 products with absolutely no luck. I’d heard it was a great Dupe for the Huda Beauty New Nude Palette and similar to Revolution Pros The New Neutral Palette. Feeling slightly dejected, I stumbled into TK Maxx in search of some big brand bargains – and what did I see staring back at me? The very Palette I’d been searching for!

At £5.99, it was an absolute bargain price, and along with a few Too Faced products, I rushed to the till.

W7 - Socialite Palette - Inside

Inside:

Socialite is a stunning palette to look at – if not the easiest to photograph. A fantastic collection of neutral browns, pinks and plums.

The palette contains: 10 Matte shades, 4 Duo Chrome Shades, 2 Pressed Glitters, 1 Shimmer Shade and 1 Concealer.

Cruelty Free Credentials:

W7 is a Cruelty Free brand who does not sell in China. They are not Leaping Bunny or PETA accredited, although their Vegan range is accredited by the Vegan Society.

The W7 website states the Socialite Palette “Contains no animal based derivatives but is not officially certified as Vegan”.

W7 Socialite Palette - Testing 1

Testing:

I primed my eyes with the Cut Crease Canvas From Revolution in the shade “Illustrate”, it’s basically Conceal and Define. I started carving out my crease using the shade “Nouveau Riche”. This shade is super pigmented but there is a lot of fallout.

Buffing out the edge with a fluffy brush and the shade “Debutante”, I was pretty happy with the way the pigment blended.

Moving on to the lid, I used the concealer from the palette “Refined” to create a just over half cut crease. Using a mixture of both Duo Chrome shades “Old Money” and “Extravagance”, I covered the area I had appplied concealer. These shades don’t apply well with us brush, ideally you should use your fingers.

I used the shade “Members Club” on my undereyes. In hindsight, this shade is a little bit too dark for this job and didn’t blend well with the shade above. I would probably use a different shade next time.

Lastly, I highlighted my inner corner with the shade “High Society”. This worked perfectly for this job although using it on my brow bone was less successful.

Swatches:

Upon swatching the Socialite palette it was clear that the shadows are not as buttery soft as their Revolution Pro counterpart. Although slightly chalky, they all swatched well with minimal building needed.

The shimmer shades are the true stars of this palette. They are soft, a lot like the Revolution Foil Frenzy Palette, although these are Vegan and do not crease at all.

W7 Socialite Palette - Swatches 2

As with the Revolution palette, I do not like the glitter pigments. Not bio-degradable, itchy on the eyes and just generally not my thing. I probably won’t be using these.

Verdict:

I love this palette! As a massive Revolution fan, I find it hard to say but… I think this is better!

For anyone who can’t afford the high end palettes (most people), this is probably the best Dupe you can get. Pigmentation is great, shimmers are insane, versatility is fantastic. This would be the perfect palette to take you through the winter months… and dare I say it, even Christmas.

Whether you pay £6 or £12, this palette is an absolute must buy.
