Primark Aladdin Eyeshadow Palette – Review

It seems like Primark are releasing a new Disney beauty collection every few weeks, usually just in time for a new movie release. This month the live action remake of Aladdin is released in cinemas , so it’s wasn’t a surprise when I spotted this cute little palette in my local store.

Mad Beauty Disney Aladdin - Your Wish Is My Command - Magic Eyeshadow Palette.

Unlike most Primark palettes, this one comes in a really beautiful tin. The colour really reminded me of the Revolution Forever Flawless Constellation Palette (that one also comes in a metal tin).

At £8 it’s super reasonable with a good mix of shimmer and matte shades. It also contains two absolutely beautiful glitter shades – but more on them later!

The blue and green do feel slightly out of place and I’m guessing that they are there more for the link to the film than anything else. I’ll admit, I was first really drawn to the shades “Pure Magic” and “Princess”. Both are super sparkly and looked perfect for a pop of colour in a cut crease.

Getting the palette home, I was dying to play around and swatch the shades. Opening the packaging in better lighting, I fell in love with the shades “Dare To Dream” and “Shooting Star”. Both are of a completely different consistency to the rest. Half way between a pressed glitter and a shimmer shade, they are soft, buttery and highly pigmented.

Swatches

Swatches 1 - Mad Beauty Disney Aladdin -Your Wish Is My Command - Magic Eyeshadow Palette.

Starting with the first six shades;

  • Genie – A real disappointment, hard to the touch and doesn’t pick up much pigment. Shimmery, although it doesn’t look like it in the picture.

  • Make a Wish – Better than Genie, but still not easy to work with.

  • Pure Magic – A beautiful true gold shade with plenty of shimmer. Perfect for a cut crease.

  • Starry Night – The first colour to really pack a punch. A shimmering burnt orange colour when swatched.

  • Young Love – Swatches terribly and can be a little bit chalky, but actually blends very well on the eye with a reasonable amount of pigment.

  • Princess – A beautiful duo-chrome purple/pink shimmer shade. Pairs well with “Young Love”

Swatches 2 - Mad Beauty Disney Aladdin -Your Wish Is My Command - Magic Eyeshadow Palette.
  • Dare To Dream – Easily the best shade in this palette and something completely different to your usual drugstore or budget friendly store eyeshadow. Not quite as buttery as Huda Beauty, but still super quality.

  • Freedom – Pretty. Pairs beautifully with “Starry Night”.

  • Shooting Star – Similar formula to “Dare To Dream”, a very pale pink that works well as an inner corner Highlighter.

  • A Whole New World – The second of only three matte shades in the palette. Really wearable, buildable shade that’s great as a transition.

  • Cosmic Love – Very pretty, shimmer shade. Safe and maybe a little bit boring. Would have been better as another matte shade.

  • Dreamer – Buttery and soft. Unfortunately it doesn’t really show up well on my skin tone.

Testing

Testing - Mad Beauty Disney Aladdin -Your Wish Is My Command - Magic Eyeshadow Palette.

I’ll start by saying that I am in no way a makeup artist, but I did find this palette easy to work with. I used the shades “A Whole New World”, “Young Love”, “Dare To Dream”, and “Princess” in this look.

Using no primer or base, it lasted for over seven hours on my oily eyelids without creasing, and showed no signs of budging any time soon. The dark purples did look pretty dramatic, no eyeliner required. I did however use my trusty favourite Mascara Revolution because it’s just the best.

It’s probably worth mentioning that this palette is not actually made by Primark, but Mad Beauty. You’ll be pretty familiar with their products if you buy any of the Disney items in Boots and Superdrug around Christmas time.

Overall, at £8 this palette is 100% worth purchasing. Highly pigmented, mostly buttery soft formulas, and all comes in a really lovely tin that I will most definitely be reusing when it’s empty. I think it would be perfect for storing my ever growing collection of Primark stick lipsticks!

8/10
