Primark – Rose Quartz Palette Review

Primark Ps. Rose Quartz Palette

Primark have been really stepping up their beauty game recently, and now their PS. range has official leaping bunny status, I’ve been trying out some of their newer products. First was their Rose Quartz Palette:

Primark Ps. Rose Quartz Palette - inside

I saw this on their Instagram page a few weeks ago and was getting major Huda Beauty vibes from the image. Okay it may not look exactly the same, but at over £40 difference in price, I think we can almost call it a dupe.

Talking of price, the palette is £8 in store for 20 shades including 4 baked shadow and 16 shimmer and matt. The full contents weighs 39.2 grams making it almost double the volume to many other palettes on the market.

The packaging is made of sturdy cardboard with a magnetic closure. I also really like the inclusion of shade names on the protective acetate sheet and the rose gold foil lettering.

On to the swatching –

The colour pigmentation is really strong and vivid on most of the shades bar a few very pale ones and the formula feels very buttery for a budget palette, unfortunately the matte shades can tend to come out a bit clumpy and need a bit of blending to look consistent.

The shimmer shades are better than I expected with some highly pigmented baked shadows that can rival Fenty Beauty, and even a really pretty orangey duo-chrome shade.

I created two eye looks with the palette using my new Real Techniques which I picked up from Boots in their 3 for 2 christmas offer. I may do a review of them at some other point.

First using the red matte shade “Fire Cracker” on look one i noticed that there was a lot of  kick back in the pan and a gentle hand is definitely needed. Be aware I am not a MUA (obviously!!) or photographer, and some of the colours here do look a lot more muddy than they do in real life.

The one shade I really didn’t get along with was the black matte “Cafe Noir”, neither swatching nor using it on the out corner of my eye on the second look. It just tended to come out muddy and a bit patchy, making the colours around it look less than  great.

Primark Ps. Rose Quartz Palette - Ingredients

Overall, I would recommend this palette to anyone look for a cheap and cheerful option with plenty of variety and ability to make lots of different looks. You get a lot of product for you money and the combo of matte, shimmer and baked shades means that there is an option for any occasion.  Now the PS. range is cruelty free I think Primark are just getting started with great, affordable beauty.

4/5
